We Are Driving forward the Decarbonization of Industrial Production

Together with ENERGYNEST - the specialist for thermal energy storage - we at KURZ are continuing to drive forward the green transformation: For this purpose, we are integrating a power-to-heat solution with a 3 MW electric heater and a 12 MWh heat storage unit at our German site in Sulzbach-Rosenberg with the aim of sustainably decarbonizing our industrial production processes. The system uses surplus solar energy from our company's own photovoltaic system and supplies over 3 GWh of clean process heat every year. In this way, we cover more than 70% of the heat requirements of a production line - and save over 3.5 GWh of natural gas and more than 700 tons of CO₂ per year. This project is part of KURZ's long-term sustainability strategy, which envisages CO₂-neutral production by 2040, and is in line with European initiatives such as the ‘Green Deal’ and ‘Fit for 55’.

LEONHARD KURZ Takes Off!

Together with Columbia Sportswear, LEONHARD KURZ is becoming part of a mission to the moon. With the help of our heat-repellent transfer products, Columbia's Omni-Shade Sun Deflector (OSSD) technology will protect sensitive components of the Athena lunar module from extreme temperatures in space. It will be used as part of NASA's CLPS mission, which will be launched at the end of February 2025.
